Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pouch sling?

A pouch sling is essentially a of length of fabric that is sewn together with a reinforced curved seam. When folded in half lengthwise, it creates a pouch for your baby to lie or sit in. There are no rings, buckles, or straps. Because they are designed the correct size for you, they are quick to put on as there is no time wasted making adjustments.

How are your pouch slings adjusted to fit?

Our pouch slings are only minimally adjustable. Please measure yourself carefully so your sling will fit properly (see sizing). Flipping over the top layer of fabric at the shoulder will tighten the sling slightly, bringing your baby in closer to your body.

Are your pouch slings padded?

All of our pouch slings have leg padding; a small strip of padding that adds comfort without bulk. Leg padding ensures that your baby or toddler will experience no discomfort behind their knees while sitting in a hip hold or tummy hold (with their legs out).

Are slings a "hands-free" carrier?

Yes! While you are learning to wear your baby we recommend keeping a hand on them. Once you are confident wearing your baby, you'll be hands free!

Can my husband wear my sling as well?

If you are both the same size you can share a pouch sling. Otherwise, choose a pattern & size that suits him. The well-respected Dr. Sears raves about the benefits of babywearing by fathers and other caregivers on his website.

My baby is hanging quite low in my pouch sling...is it too big?

It sounds like your sling is too big for you. When your baby is in the sling, their bottom should rest close to your navel. Your baby should feel snug in the sling with their head near your chest.

To check for a good fit: wearing your sling with the curved seam at your stomach, the bottom of the sling should be within an inch or two of your navel. If you can pull the sling way out in this position or if it's hanging really low/ slipping of your shoulder than it's too big.

I feel like I am squeezing my baby into the sling. I don't know if I am putting her in wrong, or if it is too small?

This is a common question, as the sling should be quite snug for a good fit. It can feel to you as though the baby is too tight, but most babies are soothed by being swaddled snugly.

To check for a good fit: wearing your sling with the curved seam at your stomach, the bottom of the sling should be within an inch or two of your navel. If your sling is more than 2 inches above your navel, it is likely too small.
